Santander and Such

¡Holá Amigos!

The past weekend I went to Santander, Spain. It is a town on the northern coast of Spain. It was a wonderful and well needed vacation. The town and the beach were beautiful. First thing we did when we got there was go to the beach. The beach at night was peaceful. We took a bunch of pictures (which I don´t know how to load, sorry) and afterward went to a little Mexican restaurant. Nothing like being in Spain to make me miss Mexican food.

When we woke up the next morning we went straight to the beach, again. The beach was so cool. Off to one side there were a lot of old, big buildings and on the other it was rocky. I, of course, climbed the rocks and went exploring. It reminded me a lot of Hawaii the way the rocks were so jagged. On the side with all the buildings there was a set of stairs that I climbed up, but they didn´t go anywhere. I assume there was at one point in time a house there, that was destroyed, and turned in to a playground. I wish you guys could see the pictures because it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The water had a blue/greenish tint to it. But it was different than the blue of Hawaii or the green of the Gulf. For lunch that day, I had some of the best shrimp I have ever had, it was so fresh. I don´t even know if Shrimp is near Spain, but it was great. That night we got dressed up and went to the casino, which was really underwhelming. I had ice cream under the casino. It was chocolate truffle with black sprinkles. ¡Gotta love the black sprinkles!

On the way home we stopped at a couple of little towns. One of them looked like a little Dutch town in the mountains and the other had a festival going on. It was nice to see little towns. Any little town in the mountains of Spain that feels like being at Elkmont is where I want to be.

The past couple of days have been busy with school and everything. Today is the first day of a long weekend. Tomorrow is the day honoring the Saint of Salamanca so there is going to big party, with fireworks. I love a good fireworks display. And then I leave Friday afternoon for Paris. I am looking forward to this trip. Hopefully in one day we can go to: The Louvre, The Eiffel Tower(at night), Versailles, and maybe walk past the Arc de Triomphe. I think we are going to have a real nice dinner Saturday night in Paris. Hopefully I can eat some Escargot (only if i´m lucky, I guess).

I hope America is treating you well. Hopefully with everything going on in España I will be able to return to Salamanca and there will be food on the table.
